| Losi Sportsman Rigs
Wondering if it's worth having a thread of people's "Sportsman" comp rigs, seems like lots of people, such as myself, have turned the LNC from a good entry level crawler into a more comp specific rig. Maybe a list of mods done and a picture to go with it?

I'll start with a budget rig.....its coming together with help from members here and good deals I find -LNC BND w/ dx3e -Mods: -28t pinion (a little much for stock motor to handle, but decent speed) -LCC upper links, shock mounts, braces (used) -bent lower links (used) - 45wt oil all around w 15mm limiters -outboard rear shocks - Brood 35t houndwound arm in an old green can I had (on the way) - sidewinder v2 or stock esc (not sure yet) - Jr 8711 servo (used) - cc BEC @ 6v (not yet installed) -DNA berg offset narrowed wheels w/ wheel spacers for correct offset front heavy, rear light (used) - OTA steering setup (freebie) i think thats about it, but with ESC issues I haven't got to play at all until I get them figured out....so we will see how it does |

Sure, I'll play too! Proline Memory Foams in the stock wheels and tires with a bunch of lead in them. E-Maxx motor with 12t pinion and flipped trans and plate (take my advice, get the E-Revo reverse motor instead, the wires are longer and will reach the stock ESC) Proline Helios body with jerry rigged lexan body post mounts and modified body posts. DX3e transmitter that I also use on my Comp Crawler and Mini Crawler Raised the link mounts to the chassis Added the Servo Lowering kit and 20* Caster Blocks (not shown in the pic) Had to switch to a Comp Crawler servo arm after doing the above Pulled the LEDs since they were of no use any more And that's really about all I've had to do to make it competitive! This is of the Servo lowering kit and Caster Block on my LCC, but they installed on the LNC the same way |

had this since november of 09 and its been a good little truck. Losi stock esc (attempting to blow it up so i can warrant a different one) trinity 27t stock arm in a modified can (works better than you'd think) and a promax 400 11t (again this works well, does get a bit warm though) 15 tooth pinion on both lcc chassis and shock arms i picked up cheap in the classifieds stock body beaten, cut, and painted over eritex comp heavies in the front, comp solids in the rear, all wrapped in sedonas raised the rear uppers by a 1/16" stainless steel tube lowers front and rear drilled grease ports, using chainsaw grease and its working for me towerpro 995 (2 for 20 bucks, they may be crap but i couldn't argue with the price, when this one burns i have a spare) ccbec powered by cbp 2s 1000's (great, light, and small, runtime isn't great but thats why i have more than one) controlled by a dx3e upcoming: new body thinking a sidewinder sv2, i like the price and adjust-ability factor of it new servo (thinking the savox ones look good for the money, either that or be like all the cool/smart kids and just go hitec and end it) thinking of doing the moa conversion (just for some more tinkering) if not the moa conversion, definately going to drop an lcc trans in and go brushless. |

Lookin' sick...Sik. Is that the 10th scale bug body, or the 18th scale? I need something that will help me roll back over in case I end up on the roof (which is often).

lol yea they do tend to do back flips ever so often dont they. that body is a 1/10 from hpi bout 8yrs ago. im painting a new 1/10 scale bug body, its a proline, doesnt have the inner cooler roof scoop, didnt want it after the body now, it actually prevents roll over and has hung me up.

They do end up some time on their lids when I'm at the wheel, lol. Little update on the LNC, put her on a diet. Some quick changes lightened up the whole thing, need to get a scale, as I'm real curious about overall weight. -LCC wheels, Jconcepts orange foam with rock claw tires. Added 4oz. up front each wheel, and 2.5oz. in the back (halfed my weights due to thte truck now weighing half what it did). -Cut the top braces off the chassis. -New 1320mah 2s moved to top of servo. -Switched to AE 2.4 rx (bout half the size and weight of my spektrum rx). -Cut down esc and motor wires for less weight. -All electronics now mounted below the shock arm mounts, and forward of the front of the motor, I can climb almost straight up a wall, back wheels about an inch and a half from the wall before she starts to roll over. Wheel travel, with 12mm limiters. Only problem is the new foams "squish too quickly", causing the truck to bind, even when living room wall climbing. -bryan |

where does everyone get the lCC parts? like those nice aluminum knuckles, and do they make them in a heavier metal? Also do people prefer aluminum links or the plastic ones? Moses |

Any local hobby shop with a Horizon Hobby account should be able to order any of it for you, if you don't have a shop, you can order from tons of online stores. I switched my steering link to aluminum first after noticing the plastic links would allow my wheels to go in different directions, none of that with the alum. The lower links and all the other LCC stuff I upgraded over quite a few months when the time and budget allowed for it.

I've sold two of them in the past month or so at work. The who bought the truck around a month ago came in to get some lead and memory foams the other say told me that his friends were blown away with how well it climbed just out of the box. The one I sold yesterday I set up a fairly well textured 4'x2' board against a wall at a decent incline and drove mine up it, it finally lost traction and started to spin it's tires within 6" from the top (I'll try and get some video tomorrow or Tuesday of the LNC and LCC doing the same climb) That guy that bought it also took that a Venom 2s 2000mAh pack for the Traxxas 1/16 cars, a LiPo charger, and some Great Planes self stick lead home for it. I'd have sold him some memory foams too, but we were out of them from the the above owner.
