| shitty run times.....
i went to LRC today to do some practice with the losi and ax-10..... my run times suck bad.... real bad, like 15mins....... the axial will run for 45-1hr on the same battery and has alot more wheel speed..... what are some ways to improve wheel speed and run times with the same battery i am running now???? brood 35t houndwound 25t pinion sidewinder v2 1300mah 3s lipo also the motor is glitchy at very low throttle, not smooth at all like it is hesitating......the damn thing is slower than it was before I changed all this mess, and doesnt seem to have much more torque even though i am running a smaller pinion.... I went from a 28t- 25t.... is it the tranny? should I look for a LCC trans??? discuss |

as far as the runtimes, the losi platform isn't good for it, you're running the motor very hard all the time pretty much, this takes power, and this drains your runtimes. when i was running my 3000 ni-mh i was getting maybe a half hour of runtime, and that was doing well compared to the other guys that had losis that i was running with, now with my cbp 1000's i get about 10 minutes or so of hard running. you won't get much better than what you are getting now. your other question i can't help you with.

well, i'm running a 15 tooth on a 27t modified and an 11t 400 puller....25 tooth seems a bit much for me, and with the 27t i can grab a rear tire and watch it flip easily in my hand.

I know its big but stock pinion was a 20t.... and compared to a axial, wheelspeed is not there.... I am running a 45t integy motor and a 14t pinion in the axial

there's a reason for that...with an axle gear ratio of 25:1, you're going to be hard pressed to get enough speed out of the transmission, the axial trans is internally 2:1 iirc and about 4:1 at the axles, this is not counting the reduction that you get from the pinion and spur. this combined with less resistance in the axial system makes them simple to get wheel speed out of. there's a reason a lot of people are starting to run 13.5t brushless motors in these things. that and to do anything for wheel speed with a brushed, you're running the motor full tilt all the time and it needs rebuilds often (ask eeepee about that one)

well, the hd worms have a 21:1 that would pep it up a bit.

I'll try that..... it seems since there is such a gear reduction, the pinion could be large and still have decent runtimes....and torque.....

you're pushing something an inch around trying to move a 5 inch tire. drop a driveshaft and with the tires on the ground, try and spin the driveshaft with your hand, now hold the tire like you're in a bind....you'll understand after this.

Have you done the grease port mod on your axles your worms need to be greased very often that will help your run times also make sure you have no binding in the drive train and everything is silky smooth that will help a ton

well, that didn't take long (been looking for a set myself) checked your link bogfrog, and no joy on the set, do have one spool and one pinion though. just going to have to wait for the next run. and flizz, while clearing up the binding and greasing can help, its no miracle cure, at least for me it wasn't. i got a little better, MAYBE 5 minutes more runtime, but the axles running cooler and motor temps going down were quite nice. there's simply no way around the "issues" with runtime...at least not any i've found.
