| Tires rubbing on springs on LNC
Newbie question here. Not sure this is common or not but just got my first crawler a few months ago and have noticed that the tires rub on the springs quite often. Once i even popped the springs out of the cups. I can adjust the turn limits on the radio but seams like a waste of getting a tight turning radius. I guess i was just mostly wondering if this is a common problem and if there is a fix to it. Or is the is just the nature of the beast and we learn to live with it as time goes on. Thanks for the help and patience with a newbie. Otis |

try adding external limiters to the shock shafts. You'll lose a bit of flex, but it wil crawl a lot better and you won't rub your springs as bad.

I figured it wasnt going to mess anyting up. i guess i was just more annoyed by it than anything. Glad to know it is not just me and i will have to live with it. So by "limiters" i seam to remember someone talking about that b4. Do you just use some fuel line or something along those lines to put on the shafts? And how much would you recomend? Thanks guys for the input. Otis |

I like 3/8 all the way around. Really helps the truck come alive more |

Yeah just put you fuel tubing on the shaft.

a more expensive fix is to buy new wheels and hubs to space your wheels out further.

Rubbing is normal, especially with full size tires...i think jeepindoug sales some"cups" that won't let your spring fall off. and impossible for the cup to fall of the shock

The best thing about the jeepindoug c cups is they can't get lost since there's no slot in them. I hate running any comper without them because if you lose a regular cup your setup goes out the window since your preload on one side is shot.

I was able to get past the spring rubbing which didn't bother me much at all since that happened usually on flat ground. It was the body rubbing while the axles are flexed that really bugged me, That got worse when i upgraded to better and longer shocks. Cutting the body was my only solution other than buying a new body, And personally id invest in an exo tube cage once i find the one i like and can afford it or finding an easy way to weld the cage and build my own since i know what i want. |
