Default LNC driveshaft cups cutting delux links..

Yea, just noticed this today I thought i had limited my flex enough simply by using my upper links as limiters. As the axle flexes and the lower links comes up, it hits the upper link.... well, not enough apparently.

I noticed a huge cut in my link today and looking at it, as it's flexed, the link is rubbing on the cup for the night crawler shafts (cup coming off the transmission). The spinning cup is like a buzz saw and is cutting my link! I bet it has a cut in it now that is about 25% through the link

I guess i'll have to put those shock limiters in the shocks to keep the flex down. I'll tinker around with it some more and see if i can change anything.

I am in no way pointing the finger of blame at Erik. His products are great. It was just me maxing out the flex of my rig and not keeping a sharp eye on clearances.

In the mean time, i guess anyone running the delux lower links and the losi night crawler shafts, make sure you are not cutting into the link. I will try to put up a picture later showing what i'm talking about.

Could also shorten the cup if you don't need it to be full depth

hmmmm.... really?! I didn't even think about that. I guess the movement of the axle does not actually get the Dshaft to slide completely in and out of the cup... so... there is some trimming i can do.

Shock limiting was done when I installed the bent links. I still have a little more than one tire height of flex.

I did have to shim the trans up off the chassis by a few mm to keep the link from hitting my Tekin motor. Also you have to watch for too much angle where the driveshaft goes into the tranny cup. As long as I can wiggle the dogbone in the cup a bit, it should be fine.

all good points! I did notice my arms are hitting my ballistic motor, but not much. So i just let it ride..

Do you have a picture? My link does not even get anywhere close to the cup.

I don't have a flickr account.

I have attached a pic i took this morning before heading to work with my cell phone. I'll try to get a better one. You can see the link has a little notch out of it (kind of fuzzy sorry). This is with the rear DS tire flexed up.

Here are a few pictures of how my rig is sitting and the links. I was running the upper links in the middle location but once i realized the lowers were hitting the cup, i lowered the upper links down as a bandaid fix while out wheeling it trying to limit the flex.

You just made me work on the Losi for the first time in almost 6 mths

The only way I can get my car to rub the cup on the driveshaft is to take my shock totally off and then bend the link too far out towards the tire.

Try and bend the link inwards, towards the center of the car so that the lower link goes to the inside of the upper link when its flexed up. Other than that, as you know, limit the shock just a touch.
