Default Night Crawler re-release.

Just saw this Night Crawler 2.0 on an Australian store site. It's not on Horizon Hobby? Has HD worms as standard and a new light bar. Interesting that it may mean parts availability might increase. Hope hot racing are watching, I want metal trans gears again.

It's neither listed nor mentioned on the Losi site, but looks really promising if this is something more than just a local Australian kit.

Losi Night Crawler 2 0 RTR 1 10 4WD Rock Crawler | eBay

Pics 2 and 3 show the box and says horizon hobby on it.

I really hope we can get some metal trans gears, I may have to call hot racing again and see what they say about new 2.0.

Isn't that also the first time the T's of the motor is mentioned? Seemed to be a mystery in the past as i believe. The box says 35T

Totally forgot to call hot racing today, ill have to call on monday.

The regular night crawler was labeled as a 55t motor but people opened up the can and found out it was really a 35t. So at least its label 35t this time. Looks like there using a different brand of 35t motor as well.

V2 seems to have some ups relative to the older version, but also some question marks...
* New battery tray. Is this the LCC tray in use? If so it's an improvement but not the best.
* All HD worm drives. Not that much of an improvement to the "regular" worm drives. It's front overdrive that's the key to success.
* Blue underside lights removed ant roof light bar instead. Probably an improvement for night drives. You still want to see what's below and behind the truck though...
* New body paint job. Looks better, IMO.
* CVD instead of dog bones. Both versions have their distinct advantages. The LCC CVDs are okay, if that's what's being used for the V2, but the dog bones of NVC are more slender which is an advantage.

Called hot racing again about the steel gears, no luck. He said its up to the manufacturer so unless the NC 2.0 blows up, we are out of luck forever.

What would be awesome if boomracing or another company got hot racing manufacturer of the steel gears and bought them and could make them for us.

Why steel gears? Plastic gears is good to have as the sacrificial part of the drive train.
There are other ways to achieve the fly wheel effect of heavier gears, if that's the desired feature.

If you are strictly rock crawling, the plastic gears will suffice. However, when you start trailing with these vehicles, long distances, high speeds, etc. Such as the Scale Crawling and TTC style comps, then, Metal Gears become a MUST HAVE...unfortunately.

From what I'm told, higher kv brushless and 3s will eat the plastic gears either way. Whats why I want them and same with most people running brushless on the night crawler tranny.

I run my scaler converted LNC on brushless (Tekin Redline/MMP) and have only gone through one set of plastic gears. I'd like metals, but at the cheap price I'll keep replacing the plastics for now. Atleast a rerelease means the replacements will stick around hopefully!

The problem with plastic is it will always fail, and yes there cheap and easy to replace but I'm pretty sure there's a limited supply (NC/CC parts) and will run out sooner then later. Lots of people run brushless on the night crawler trans and that will only go up in numbers, especially with the 2.0 released now too. Who knows, I could be wrong.
