when a wheel is offset it means that the mounting surface isnt exactly center, by chaning your off set you will make your track narrower or wider depending if the off set is positve or negitive

depends on driving style / terrain etc wide open go for a wide track, alot of tight narrow spaces you will want to be narrower , and if you want to compete it has to fit within certain messurements.

your axle width also plays an important part. On a tlt or axial axle your gonna want a wider offset, and on a berg or clod axle your gonna want a narrower offset. Usually around 9.5-10.5 is pretty good for comp trucks. On my last rig i ran a 9.5 rear and a 10 front and it was perfect. With the berg axles even with the narrowest offset wheels my rear is still at 10" even.

what would be the advantage of having a wider front track width?

its more of an advantage to having a narrow rear track width. The wider front track width makes the truck more stable, but having the narrow rear means you can cut a gate closer in the front and not have as much concern about hitting the gate with the rear wheels.

585 is about 1/4 per side more narrow than stock ax 10 wheels, Revolvers are very close to stock

460 are 1/8 per side more narrow than 585, and 335 is currently the narrowest

hmm thanks, that is pretty interesting.... I am previously (and upto now) into touring, and to turn better, we have the rear wider than the front.
