| how do you get BB's in your tires and run foams??
Hey guys, instead of wasting $50 on wheel weights, i have a couple box's of metal BB's.... I weighed them, but im not to sure on how to get them to stay in the wheel, are they supposed to roll around in there and be sandwitched between the wheel/foams? Or do you stick them to the wheel somehow??? Thanks-and sorry for the noob question, i searched but couldent find anything on what to do with the BB's... Thanks! |

I got enough stick on wheel weights from CKRC to do 2 rigs for $10. I've never run BB's, but if I did I would probably tape them to the inside of the wheel somehow between the wheel and foam. | |

I ran bb's in my tires for a little while and i just trimmed the foam enough to allow the bb's to roll around inside, but they still would get clogged up and throw the wheel out of balance. So i went to Bass Pro and found this. Its a 5lbs bag of lead for about 22 bucks. Its used to melt down and make homemade sinkers out of but it is the perfect width to fit inside the rim and it cuts super easy with a good pair of scissors. I just taped it to the rim. |

Channel cut the center of the front foam. For berg go 16oz of total front weight per tire and shafty go 12oz per tire and no weight in the rear.

The purpose of running bbs or sinkers or lead shot is so that they are constantly rolling at the bottom of the tire so the cog stays down really low and the bbs conform around the rock with the tire. There is no piont in just taping them to the wheel. You might as well just use lead sticker weights to do that.

| Agreed
The BB's should roll to the bottom of the tire which IS the whole point. I used them in narrowed clod wheels/tires (no foams) and they did work but they were noisy and annoying. I like the lead weights now !

| The BB's
A buddy of mine cut a deep V shape into the foam of the front tires. Placed the BB's in the tire and and he doesn't get any clogging. His truck is super heavy. I am not sure how much weight he put in but I think it was a little extreme. I think he said 5 lbs per front wheel. Maybe 2.5 lbs per front wheel. I know it was a ridiculous amount. I am thinking of trying the idea myself. I get a lot of back flips.

| Go to the auto parts store and get 30 sticks wheel weights. Less than 20.00.

| BB's NO foams I ran 9oz of (steele) bb's in each front wheel. and 4oz of air soft bb's in each rear. As mentioned earlier the purpose of using bb's is to keep your cg at it's lowest point. I ran the airsoft in the rears for two reasons. 1. to give just a little weight. 2. to help keep a little shape to them. Getting them into the wheel is very easy also. Set one side of the tire bead into the wheel, and make sure all the screws are tight. Add your bb's. Set the other bead and tighten all the screws. Put em on your rig and have fun. |

I used epoxy to glue lead buckshot to the rims. Im not into the idea of them rolling around in the tire.

I use to run airsoft bb's in my tires, about 3/4 tire full in front and about 1/2 in rear. The airsoft are light enough to use alot to fill the tire and helps keep tire from rolling over on side hills, but adds enough weight to keep the tire planted. They worked well but the noise gets old after a while.
