Default What middle ground tires for loose and slick rock and dirt?

What's a good middle tire between rock and dirt? We have a lot of slick and smaller jagged rock, rather than course bolders, here in TN. Im not competing and do run up steep dirt trails also, in search of rock. Im currently running stock Axial Hammers. I see some ppl run Mashers or Rock Grabbers and wondered how those would do. Hammers are terrible on slick rock and worthless in the dirt.

Mashers are great in the dirt.

I have FlatIrons on my 2.2 scaler. I have cut some of the lugs out and made them a lot better in the dirt. You can see the cuts in this pic.

how do the mashers do on rock though? it looks like flat irons may be the best tire to go with for both rock and dirt. i know not one tire is great at both so just looking for something decent at both.

If you go with the mashers, make sure you get the Masher 2000 and not the original Masher. The 2000 has a better compound for rocks.

On a Super class crawler with Clod axles. Don't bother trying it with Axial axles, they won't handle the added weight/strain.

I run mashers and think they work great. Turn the backwards on rocks and they still do well on dirt.

Back in the day Mashers were all we had. They were good then and they're good now. M2 compound seems to work best.

With the open pattern the new Panther Leopards might work really well for you.

my all around tire list would include badlands and rock grabbers. Those are also my top two choices for crawler tires.

I have 1.9 flat irons which I use mainly on loose gravely dirt and plain dirt. The dirt usually has a tiny bit of moisture in it. The FI tends to load up pretty quick even if the dirt has the slightest bit of moisture. When they load up they get slick and don't seem to clean very well.

I've had the M3 compound M2K's on my Wheely King nearly 2 years with the PL Memory foams on Axial rims and have had them work great in everything I've run it through. I've also swapped my Losi Comp Crawler over to the M2K's as well (stock foams in the back Memories in the front) on the stock rims and they seem to work great so far and look pretty aggressive too
