Default Help needed narrowing stock TXT / Clod wheels

I have seen several people cut off the inner ring when narrowing the rim of a stock Clod or TXT rim. Why not just cut both the inner and outer? Will the glue not hold it? Is this just to narrow?

im sorta new with this whole rc crawler thing, but before i narrowed my txt wheels, i used 2 rims to manually squeeze the two stock tire beads toward each other. i was looking to see how much the rim could be narrowed to acheive 'optimum' sidewall tread without creating a tire that would be weak from being pulled in too much. basically, i figured that any more than 1" narrower than stock would start to create some negatives. so, like most others, i simply narrowed the inner bead only, and almost exactly 1". i dont see any reasons why you couldnt narrow both inner and outer bead, as this would keep your overall width the same as stock and also give better sidewall lugs. of course, if you narrow the outside as well, you may see the seam (who cares). anyway, enough blabbering. here's some picks of my recently narrowed txt wheels just for kicks...

Im glad you posted that link its helping me alot in understanding how thats done also how would you go about mounting the tire? do you jus mount it and glue it like normal? because with the shortened rims you would need to squeeze the tires to mount them rite?
