Default Mounting SLW's to upgraded axle shafts!

Got my hands on a set of Vanquish SLW's only to find I couldn't mount them because of my beefy (letshandleit) 5mm axle stubs
Determined to get these great wheels on my bully for their weight savings and the taller tire from the .7 size I came up with this quick and easy fix to mount them on the 5mm stubs

First a bought (4) 5m aluminum couplers
Then I chucked them up in the lathe and rounded off the hex to fit in the insert (It was that easy)

Since they don't have nylon threadlock is in order!

The nut wouldn't fit (725 insert) I could have used a narrow nut but then I wouldn't of been able to get a tool on it. This way I just tighten them down with a 10mm socket

Hey Brad or Chris do you think this would be better in tires and wheels?
If you could can you move it for me Thanx

with the additional thread you could use a set screw to act as a thread locker. It'd work far better than just loctite alone, or even the usual nyloc nuts would..

Hmm I just chucked my HB lightning flanged 5mm nuts in the drill put it on the highest speed and just filed them down till they fit. That way you get the most surface area against the rim and the stick out enough to be able to use a standard T or Y wrench. I am running V2 axles which are 5mm all round.

Keep in mind I'm using .725 inserts and they are deep.If you mean rc4wd v2 axles they are smaller than letshandleit monsters

I used the Traxxas 5 mm flanged nut with the flange turned down to fit inside the VP hub. I can still use a standard 8 mm nut-driver to tighten the nut down no problem

...the nut is deep inside the hub BTW
