Default Boss Rovers

Ok so i wanted to try out a set of Boss Claws but didnt have a set of Comp Claws but i did have a set of old Rovers laying around. So it took 5 Losi Eclipse 1/8th buggy tires and 4 Rovers and about 3 hours.

I've been looking at making a set of these but couldnt figure out which compond eclipse tires to get. I'm assuming the silver? Or maybe the reds?

I'm pretty sure the red compound works the best according to Rubbaneck. How tall did they end up?

Ok just so you all know how i made these tires i used Insta-cure and then used Ic-2000. The tires come out a little smaller than the stock Rover. The Boss rover cam out to be 5.28 inches tall thats with running Nova 5.0 foams.

Did some testing yesterday and today. First spot i went was big rock concreted in to place under a bridge. First impression was they were a little slick but after a few minutes and getting the oil off the tips of the tires there were sticking great. What i noticed was that these tires liked to crawl slow didn't like being on the gas. Not only did these tires grab on the grippy rock but they made a ton of traction on the slick stuff.

Second place i went was Hobby Town in Concord they have a lot of man made rock and concrete. The tires didn't like to hook up as good on the smooth concrete but made unbelievable traction on the fake and real rock. These tires can side hill like no other.

So far i feel with some more time on them and the smaller 5.0 Nova foam all the way around these tires are going to be the best all around tire in my opinion.

Don’t thank me thank losi for bringing them to worlds. So a few people asked me why the rover side wall well this is why. The comp claw is a bit shorter in overall diameter than a rover and I wasn’t sure if I really wanted to go to that much of a smaller tire. As it is when you cut/shuck the rover with the Losi eclipse your going to loose some of your height plus I’ve been running rovers for a while and know what the side wall can do.

TURBOFEST im glad that this inspired you to build and try these tire your going to love them. So far with the testing that I’ve done they like to crawl slow as in less wheel speed but if you get to a spot where there no hooking up give it some throttle heat up the tire and then slow back down and watch the tires grab.

Thats the exact reason I havent made them sooner. I didnt want to lose the height. I had the thought of using rover sidewalls but after seeing yours I knew i had to have them!

I love the look of them and like i said..i cant wait to try them out!

I'll post pics when I get some
