They are not soft enough and the lugs are too close together. BFT's baby!

The only way a K-Rocks work okay is if you cut the hell out of them, but you still have the hard compound to deal with. I would imagine that on a very high traction surface like say lava rocks they might work great, or at least better than what we have experienced here in NW part Oregon

No, no.... LST's!! Okay, for a out of the box stock tire the LST wins. For a modified tire the BFT is great.

The advantage K-Rocks have is surface area. On smooth river rocks they seem to work very well. If the rocks have more surface texture the surface area advantage is negated. A tire with an aggressive lug is better on rocks with more texture because the sides of the lugs interlock with the surface.

K-Rocks also load quickly with sand or mud.

In the right situation K-Rocks are good tires, but most times they are not as mentioned in previous posts.

The lugs are too close together and the tread is too hard.

They do good where the lugs have places to nip and bit things on edges/corners. They don't do that well for slick surfaces because the tread compound is soooooooooo hard.

And FYI, there is a thread on this same page asking for people's opinions on K-Rocks

Could some one explain what BFT's are LOL. I saw the LST in the store today they look like a sweet crawler and nice and soft. Just want to see my options before i buy the LST's. Too bad the k-rocks aren't softer that is a sweet looking tire and taller than most. Anyone heard on them making a softer more spaced blocks on them soon?

I keep telling them to but it takes time to make a new product. The new clod swamps look promising though..

K-rock's are quickly becoming one of my favorite tires. Like others have said, in higher traction areas they grip good. With some trimming and lighter foams they hook up really good!

i run mine with out the foams , with bead locks and a small hole in the back of the rim to let the air out of them

Thanks. It took a lot of cutting and sanding to get 'em like that. My shop still smells like burning rubber. I think it was worth it, they work great and look kinda cool too.
