| Foam tuning?
I have tried searching this but cant find any good information on how to "tune" my foams for my 2.2 flatirons. I bought the tires "used" but they are like brand new, so I dont know if the foam inside is stock or not but the foam is huge when I pulled it out and actually makes the tires look "rounded" with the foam inside. I will be putting these on a scaler and will be doing mild wheeling on various types of terrain, I dont do any comps or anything like that so just stuff for fun. Can someone please point me in the correct direction on how to properly "tune" my foams? Thanks |

If they are memory foams i wouldnt worry about cutting them. If they are a stiffer foam i know alot of ppl play around with channeling the center of the foams. (lower in the middle higher on the sides) And even making the foams narrower or wider as needed.

Yes they look like memory foam. Once I pulled them out they sprung back up to "normal" size but man they are huge. I would like to do something to make them a little smaller and not make the tires bulge and look rounded when installed.

With my memory foams, I cut them like a cog instead of a star and shaved the outer diameter down a bit. The foam still holds the tire up, it flexes and gives more bite on rocks but doesn't make the tires look flat. I guess the best bet is to try it figuring what type of terrain your accustomed to crawling on. Weights on the rims etc.
