Default How should I cut my clod tires (stock)??

I am basically broke and realized my tires suck ass so I want to cut them insteaed of buying new LST's right now. Is there anyone out there that has a good pattern that I should cut them by? I need alot of traction (obviously) and I will be riding on smooth to sorta-rough rocks. I really need some help here and I have the tool sto cut them (a dremel and those wire cittur things, you know what I mean). Thanks!

THE best thing you can do, is look at all these pictures on this site.
A trend I have noticed though, is a lot of the time, people still buy different tires.
Is it worth your time? Maybe try using BBs instead. Or siping them.

Im just gonna trim the treads because I am totally broke so I dont have the money to buy new tires otherwise I would. Hey, can I use an x-acto blade/knife to trim the tires! It sounds really easy just to slice it right off with the sharpest cutting utencil on earth!! Like a knife through WARM buter....

I actually find it hard to use one.. it custs through easy but the lines are so thin it does not do much inless u cut out the whole square which is a pain.. if you have a dremel then thats the best way..

To remove lugs:

Cut vertical with the straight wire cutters, cut horizontally with the ones that have the blade out flat.

No experience with tire patterns yet, but I plan on cutting my TXT tires like Jason did on his Gecko Clod in the RC Driver mag. Basically turn the wheels around backwards and do a checkered pattern on the terra tread. Hopefully it works - if not I will have to deal until I can afford new tires too.

Here is a old pic of my truck. Rckjeep let me mount his cut up stock TXT tires which were mounted on narrowed TXT rims, they were 10 times better then my stock cut up TXT tires!

I think the pattern Rckjeep cut into the tires and the fact that they were mounted on narrowed stock TXT wheels made all the difference.

Click here for a full size pic so you can get a closer look at the tires.

Above is exactly how I did mine, alternating voids on each lug, one void on one, two on the next, etc.

I used wire cutters. For the inside cuts I did a diaganal cut from the outside in to start, then I could raise up the cut piece and cut the rest off flush. Here's the pattern on my BFT's:

Ok so the 'Large voids are needed for the tires to conform to the rocks' thing is invalid and you really just need smaller voids in each lug for better flex? I thought RckJeep was running BFT's these days cut similar to mine.

I'd hate to think I spent 4Hrs on those tires when I didn't have to.. Should I glue parts of the lugs back on or what?

I used a pair of wire cutters and smoothed it up with a dremel.
