| Stretched tire look, part deux
So since the first one got way off base , lets start this again? So a simple reminder, this is a tech thread, personal views are not part of this thread, this is how to or what to do/use to get the stretched tire look! So far I was informed that the Junfac's are the widest non custom beadlock on the market for 2.2 ,which with a 1.9 tire taller the better-flat irons- will give some serious streched look. What I was looking for is the widest 2.2 or 1.9 rim with a 1.9 tire that will be durable for street use ,also looking for tire foams that will handle the weight of the truck- tamiya hilux high lift, this is for a runner not a crawler, so functionality is secondary Last edited by Joat; 11-06-2011 at 12:16 AM. |

For money, I'd say the best guess would be junfac or make your own. If money isn't a problem, custom is the way to go

1.9 mini stretch. Added about 3/16" to a stock axial wheel. Not so crazy. |

You could probably take an axial Braddock and cut it in half, then get PVC pipe and make it the width you want. Then use PVC glue and glue back together!! Make it as wide or as narrow as you want

| Tires are RC4WD Dirt Grabbers and I had to use 1.9 TSL foams. I bought the tires used and the foams that they came with were way too small. The stock 1.9 Axial wheels are 7/8" w/o rings....about there anyway.

Dos any one have pics of how they would do it with pvc?? I would like to try the pvc in stead of buying multi sets of wheels just to make one wide set.

The2.2 JunFac are the easy one's to widen because the open center / center hub face. By cutting the wheel in half add what is needed and clue back togther . The center hub face will change so a hex spacer would be need depending on how wide - back spacing - or axles being used . See pics below. |

When my wheels come out they will be adjustable from .5 wide all the way to 2.3" wide This will hold true for the 1.9 and the 2.2 Link to thread: **New** DLUX Wheels |

Is there a performance advantage for this or is it for looks?

its purely for looks. and not really to my taste. i also would think it would damage performance. (i kept it polite.) edit: also wouldn't it be easier if you used a narrow tire? Last edited by foproy; 11-06-2011 at 04:17 PM. |

I still don't get it, but I guess its the same as big ass wings on an '88 civic. If you've got the money and that's the way you want it to look, go for it, but understand that there are people out there that will give you crap for it. I thought people did it in 1:1s because they couldn't afford the correct width tire and just stretched a narrow one on it. I guess it's popular with the drifting crowd as well: RC drifters do it for the beveled edge so it doesn't catch as easy on asphalt cracks and rocks. |
