Default Largest Tire for 2.2 Wheels

I am thinking of going with Swamp Dawgs, then narrowing them.

Just wondered if there was a bigger tire available.....

I am running TLT axles, dont know if that matters.

i was wondering about this too. i found that some buggy tires on towerhobbies that are 4 inches tall and the tread looked almost good enuf to crawl with some triming(the proline dirt hawg 1,2,3) and i wonder if you could run a front tire instead of narrowing them

does this work at all, can someone else answer too

In January IMEX will have the new All T, it is 5.5" tall and looks cool.

Both of these are for 2.2" rims.

Some buggy tires are for 1.9" rims (about the same as most touring cars). Some will fit a 2.2 rim, use Tower's website to check rim sizes.

I assume you are talking about Masher2000's, ProLine Mashers are different and smaller than Masher2000's. Some people may not know the difference.

Sorry Grizzly, I forgot that was answered, there.

I am trying to buy up so much stuff cant keep track.

The Imex tires, I dont know about, in the real world, MTR's, just didnt work as well as everyone thought, or at least here on the East Coast.

They would just gum up, and not allow for traction, I will for go those, and look at the Masher's.

Most important thing is rubber compound if IMEX makes them out of a good compound they will be good.

If you are talking about packing up with mud, I agree, but remember these are not scaled down. The IMEX tires will prolly have larger voids between the treads than the 1:1 MTR's so they would not pack up as easily.
I'm not trying to sell anyone on anything though, I was just tryin to point out that the All-T will be the biggest 2.2 tire. I will be trying them though.

I have in front of me both a Pro-line Masher 2000 and an Imex Swamp Dawg. Both are mounted on standard 2.2" rims and measured from outside lugs.

Masher 2000 - 4 7/8"

Swamp Dawg - 5 3/8"

Tamiya All Traction Utility - 3 5/8" Stock Tire

The Swamp Dawg performs well on dry or sandy rocks, yets clammers for traction when on wet rocks. It is way more flexible than the Masher 2000 and more easily conforms to rock edges. The Masher 2000 does have more lugs with sharper edges that works well when scaling large rocks, yet does not grap onto ledges nearly as well.

Just my 2 cents and findings I have.

Well that is the same thing, I found out from a local guy.

He said the Swamp, will measure bigger.

But I had this pic, from the orginal owner of the truck, he said he modifed these larger J-hawgs to fit the 2.2 wheels, These tires was what I had supposed to have gotten, but since I was educated, and didnt have this pic, He didnt have them on in. Now I am tring to retrieve what was in the ad, for the money I paid.

I ended up with some Masher 2.2V-tread tires, basically the ones, in the pic, that is used to flex on....

Try this

The dualies are from www.imexrc.com
They are made for the clodbuster, and use a rim diameter that is larger than the 2.2's these guys are talking about.

Yea my bad, I am using the 2.2 puller, not the swamp dawg. I was never sure of the name since for some reason mine have "Road Dawg" molded into the side. And yes, they are nearly as tall as a T-maxx tire, just with a lot moe sidewall to flex.

Since this thread is hella old the data is now inconclusive. The tallest 2.2 tire is the Imex All-T @ 5.5" tall. As far as the puller tires they used to be more popular but MASHER 2K's are still the tire of choice. The are 5" tall and the best compound. The All-T's are good but a bit too big and have broken a few Pede tranny's. Go with Masher 2ks'
