Default RC4wd steelies issue

Ok, I have some questions for you steelies guys. I bought a set of Steelies form someone on here who said they were 1.55's. However they measure the same across as a honcho 1.9. I can not get a 1.9 rock creeper to seat though. The metal ring that goes in the middle is just slightly to small for the tire to seat properly and the outer stamped piece has just a finger nail spacing from fully seating in the tire bead. Is this normal or should it fit like the honcho wheels do? I could not get the whole thing together enough to get the bolts put in. Just not sure if I need to try harder or what.

The 1.55", 1.9" , 2.2" dimensions are the outside dimension of the wheel where the bead sits. Not the width of the wheel.

You need 1.55 tires for 1.55 wheels. Atleast for the rc4wd steel wheels. Some other wheel designs allow you to stretch the tire onto a bigger wheel but, Its hard to do with the steelies.

So perhaps someone can show me what the 1.55 look like or tell me if that's what I really have?

Here's pix of what I have, and as you can see, they are all very very close to the same size.

Well the 19 on that sidewall would say those are 1.9 tires. Not sure on rim. I have some at home I could measure. When I get there.

From where im sittin, it looks like everything you have is 1.9

Are you sure your assembling the tire onto the wheel correctly?

Put the foam in tire, place metal ring inside of tire/foam, sandwich the tire with the steel pieces, put the hex on, put a bolt in the hole, squeeze together to get nut started and repeat for the other bolts. Sometimes it helps to have s longer bolt to help get it started.

Yup. Not my first rodeo. I did read on their site a way to try and get it started that I will try in a little bit. Just seems a bit hard then it should be.

So is it possible that someone put the wrong size rings with these when I bought them used? I tried out a piece of PVC that I had that was bigger around and everything went right together. But with the metal ring that came with them, I can't get the tire to seat right.

Anyone have one they can measure for me to see?

The inner diamater is 48mm and outer is 53mm on the 1.9 rings. I hope this helps.

Thanks, I will verify in the morning. The stamped parts seem to fit the tire fine.

They just were.. Not all 1.9's worked well with them including some of their own tires..

You can find fitment issue's with quite a few beadlocks on the market...

If all else fails, got some boggers. I have 1.9 steelies and 1.9 boggers and they went together pretty easy, although my fingers got in the way, but that's a personal problem. Stupid sausage fingers!
