Default I think the rest of the RC world is catching on...

Went over to the Traxxas boards for a good laugh today....found this post on "cutting tires" (for speed )

In theory it works...but some of these guys act like this is better than sliced bread....

Has anyone else tried this cool & free stock tire modification?

I did this, then smoothed out the cut tire treads with my dremel. After a few test runs on pavement and gravel, I'm quite pleased with the difference. I think the truck is slightly faster and I enjoy the handling more.

Anyone else have experiences with this?

LOL What dorks, kinda like all the idiots that think putting a wing on their car makes it go faster. I was banned from the Traxxas boards a while ago...that brings back memories.

When the T-Maxx came out there weren't any aftermarket tires available so I started cutting the stock tires...did a how-to type thing on my website. That was...geez...6 years prior to that tip. 8O

Yea just a little late lol

Next will be "slicing and closing" your Maxx tires to cut down on air resistance at a blazing 36mph

What's real funny is that I actually did an article in RC Driver a few months back about various ways to mod your tires...both for more and less traction. I showed some cut Mammoths as an example of modifying an existing tread pattern with cut-off wheels and such.

That thing was definitely a big deal at the time. RCCA just reprinted the article again (3rd time now) in their "Traxxas Maxx" book.

As of now it's in pieces, cannibalized for parts. :(
