Default Mounting Chisels With Memory Foam On VP SLW V3's

Ok, so I'm not new to rc cars or crawling. I have mounted many many sets of rc tires on rc beadlocks. However, I am having a hell of a time getting my second bead/beadlock ring to fully seat while mounting my NOS Chisels on my brand new Vanquish SLW V3's. My V3's are the .7 size and I'm using the memory foams that came with the tires. I can get both beads/rings seated with no foam in the tires, but when I try to add foam I can only get one bead/ring on. I have tried the shock oil bottle/ screw driver through the center of the wheel trick...no luck. I usually get one bead/ring on all the way, then add my foam and seat the second bead.

As of right now, I have no foam in my tires, just air. I know they are fully seated because I can squeeze the tires and no air comes out. I was hoping that if I kept them mounted like this for a week or so, that the bead of the tires would conform to the shape they will be in while mounted on the wheels. Any ideas? Do I need to cut my foams down?

I would check to make sure the foam is not inbetween the bead and the wheel. that will not allow the bead to sit properly and it will pull out.

I poked the foam in with the allen driver all the way around to make sure, but it didn't seem to help. Maybe I need to trim the width of the foam back a bit?

Contour the edges of the inside of the foam. Make it look like Crawler Innovations inner dense foam ring so it keeps the edges of the foam away from the bead. Thats what I do.

Possibly. I would tighten thee screws down just so the bead contact the groove it goes into, then i would push the tire around the bead to make sure it seats. Then tighten screws 1 turn then do it again. I would continue to do that till i know for a fact its seated and will not budge. If all else fails, use a few drops of glue to hold it

I will give this a try and see what happens.

What type of glue are we talking about here? I'd be pretty hard pressed to put any type of glue on my brand new VP wheels. To me, that was a lot of money to spend on "little" wheels and tires.

Typically just use use ca glue or even super glue. All that's needed is a cpl drops just to hold it till the ring is on, by only using a few drops they will be easily removable

I had a look at those and it looks like they used a router to make the edge like that. I'm sure I can take a little material off with my lexan body scissors and make it work. I'm still going to try the mason jar lid trick also. That looked pretty slick.

Trimming the inner edge of one side of the foams and using the mason jar lid trick worked like a charm. I got all 4 stuffed with foam on the first try! No leaks. Thanks for all the tips. Even us old dogs can learn new tricks.
