One reason people narrow them is when you narrow a tire in usually balloons the tire up for a taller tire and more ground clearance. Another reason is so that your tire or rim doesn't rub on things like a rowdy racing battery holder for on the axle battery mounting. And if you think you can do it than narrow them yourself, no reason not to, I had the stock wheels and upgraded to DH procomp 2 rims and loved them and then decided to try out slw rims and those are amazing as well, any choice you make would be a good one.

I ran narrowed stock wheels for almost a year before I got VP's. I used a Dremel cutting wheel in my drill press. Set the DP table to the desired height so all the wheels will be the same. |

I did about the same as KBrog, but I set my drill press up like a lathe and cut a section out of the center of the wheel. It's cheap and easy and narrows the wheels down to 1" which works well and you can still run all the VP c-hubs and knuckles. Here's a few pics of mine, click the pics the and read at the bottom. http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/membe...1510-page2.htm Last edited by BLKXJ 96; 08-03-2012 at 04:34 PM. |
