| Inflating tires
I have seen a few you tube vids that show people running inflated tires, and they talk about how difficult it is to inflate the tires. Got me to wondering, if anyone has tried using a valve from say a basket ball to inflate the tires, and would there be any advantage or disadvantage vs. foams. Feel free to tell me its a completely retarded idea, but I was wondering about its as I have seen folks just re-glue torn tires and such and thought maybe you could put a valve on the inside side wall, or even glued into a hole drilled into the rim itself. Anyway, just a thought. Here is a link to the valves I found for reference. The link. Tachikara Rubber Ball Replacement Valves (RMP) - Basketball Equipment and Gear thanks |

You are not the first to ask the air vs. foam question, but I'm sure you know that from reading the other threads. Your search probably didn't return the thread mentioned in this quote: Quote:
You can save some time and try the 2.2 Gmade G-air system. | |

thanks for the replies, I'm not necessarily looking to run air filled tires. I had just happened to see a video where someone who does said it was a pain to get the 4 lbs of pressure that they want, and it got me thinking. Sorry, my brain gets fixated sometimes, and I wondered if there was a reason more people didn't run them. Seemed that it would be more like a 1:1 which is what I take scaling to be about. I thought of scale runs where water is involved, and maybe then you wouldn't soak the tire foams. The question was more to the use of the valves, because they could be glued into the side wall of a tire and would solve the issue of setting the pressure with accuracy. Anyway, thanks for looking.

Unlike 1:1 tires, r/c tires have no sidewall support. That would equate to massive amounts of tire sidewall roll when turning.

I sealed my stock Axial Ax10 2.2s, mounted tires with no foam and they work pretty good. Good footprint, great tread flex and not bad sidewall flex.
