Default larger than 2.2"

Yes, i have put this thread in the large scale section as well. but realised afterwards its probably better off here.

What rims are people using that are bigger than 2.2 but dont run a traxxas bead??

im looking for some 2.5 - 2.8 size rims. and dont specifically have to be beadlock.

ive searched google and found the proline 2.8 rims but they have the traxxas bead, and everywhere else is discontinued.

any ideas?

Motoworx has their 2.8 and 3.8 rims available. Not necessarily cheap ( 160.00 for a set of 2.8 ) but beautiful none the less...

The old MT wheels like the T Maxx and the Savage used to have were 3.2 in with standard glue beads. I don't know if those would be too big for your use.

i put this thread in the large scale section as well, and the motorworx wheels were mentioned.

im personally not a fan of the style ive seen of motorworx 2.8 beadlocks, plus theyre just a tad above my budget.

i found that 1/10 size monster truck wheels are 3.0 with a 12mm hex, and a lip on the outer edge instead of the "traxxas bead" so i should be able to confortably stretch on a set of tall 2.2 tires and have it be somewhat ok.

here is a 3.0 buggy rim with the traxxas bead, i managed to cut a 1.9 trepador tire and add a couple sections in to make the tire have a 2.8 size bead. measures 140mm on the O.D

what im going to try is to buy some cheap car tire valves, and glue them into the rim and pump them up to make them a bit bigger, plus have pressure to attempt to hold up the truck. i estimate it will end up around the 10kg mark when its all finished up and full of fuel and batteries servos axles etc.

this tire (on its way to me across the pond) @ 148mm tall. just a little taller than the enlarged 1.9 trep^^

on these rims>

any other suggestions on rims before i pull the trigger on those ones^^^ ??
