Default 2.2 Growlers - which foam?

So from the post on these forums the 2.2 Growlers are 5.5x1.95.x2.2 Looking at the CI website the deuces wild are only 4.20 tall. Is there a taller foam I should be looking for?

This is for a Mattzilla U4 wraith based build so it has a little weight. I would prefer softer foams since I do mainly rock crawling.

What you are seeing on the CI website is for a 1.9 tire...look for the 2.2 tall or standard foams

I run tall deuces wild in mine and it's great for higher speed running.

Wish I would have known I needed tall DW foams for the Growlers, got my standards in today there's way too much empty space Not happy having to buy another set of foams These foams were supposed to fit Ripsaws, which are the same size.

The height of the foams is not determined by the height of the tire, but by the weight of the r/c your using them on. Without knowing the weight, its hard to say what I'd use.

And also the size of the tire. You can't run a 5" foam in a 6" tire and expect possitive results.

This case has nothing to do with weight. Put the foam in the tire and there's a huge empty space. These foams were supposed to fit Ripsaws which are 5.5", they do not fit my Growlers which are also 5.5".

I have always run 6" DD foams in tires that are 5.5 or larger. This was the first time I bought the DW foams but I think the standard height ones are for the original Proline TSL height tire. You can add a tuning ring to the standard ones to fill the void and tune them to what you like.

Taken from the crawler-innovations website:

Foams do not need to be confusing!

Here are some basics you need to know...

#1. The Crawler Innovations Double Deuce, Lil Nova and Deuce’s Wild Foam Systems are based on the weight and intended use of the your RC Vehicle, not the overall height of the tire.

it's the first thing outlined in the guide.

And it's not 100% correct.

I can read. There shouldn't be a ****ing air gap between the tire and foam. That's not acceptable at any weight.

Did you get tuning rings? I try and remember to add tuning rings everytime I get dual stages.

I've never met anyone that read 6", and still bought 5" so that point is moot.

The info solid, C.I probably has more understanding of his product than anyone else.

Actually the point is not moot. The websites reference is very vague as the regular and tall DW foams don't list a height. The website needs to be updated to included the new larger tires that in fact need to take the tire size into consideration.

I'm not sure why I am arguing over this.

Maybe we should take the tire size list I've seen floating around and add recommended foam to it as well since they make different size foams for not only weight (because they have different hardness levels for that too) but also tire size. Then people can choose the hardness of the foam they need by weight.

The regular DW is good for a about a 5" tire. The talls arw for a 5.5-6. I know they say the regular for the Ripsaws but I think that may be a mistake.

Well the CI website is incomplete, can't even buy tuning rings, I didn't bother asking in the CI subforum considering my last two questions have gone unanswered. I went with the descriptions on RPP which is apparently wrong.

I just put a set of ci 5.5" foams in my 2.2 growlers with absolutely no problems or air gap at all, they work as they should, I have soft front and medium rear.
