| What about ifd wheels
What is your opinion about Axial's ifd (Interchangeable Face Design) 2.2 wheels? I see two benefits in them: 1. Light weight i.e. low rotating mass. Given the fact, that I have good weight on my VP axles and MIP drive shafts, I thought to miss the option of heavy wheels in order to keep the car down. So these wheels must be really good to accelerate and to break. 2. Their breather holes: Isn't that a major issue most metal wheels have not? How big is this benefit to adjust the habits of the tires with these holes? Do these Axial wheels fit von VP slw hubs? Thank you! |

I'm not a fan of the ifd wheels. Of all my wheels, they seem to let go of the bead the easiest. Yes, SSD, LURC, Chinesium, etc. SLW style hubs fit them. If you want light weight wheels that won't lose a bead, I like Crawler Innovations' 6-bolt glue on wheels. In my (and many others') experience, it's better to put the vent holes in the tire itself, not the wheel. That way, centrifugal force can reject moisture and debris (sand/dust) whereas with a vented wheel only, you'd have to dismount the tire to get the gunk out.
