Default Axial Rock Lizards On MSD Beadlocks WTH?

I mounted up my set of Axial Rock Lizards a few nights ago. I was just walking by, and thought one of them looked funny. Then I checked all of them, and they are all literally coming off the wheels. I took the beadring off of one, and the tire was pulled out of the bead slot wherever you see it in the pics. Anyone have this happen with other brands of tires? I know these Axials are kind of soft, but I'm not sure what to think of this. Did I do something wrong? I made sure they were completely in the slot, tightened the screws a small amount at a time in a star pattern, and checked them afterwards. Any ideas would help.

I think you are way over tightening them........they barely need to be snugged down at all,

X2. That's what they look like when the bead gets pushed out by the ring.

Snug 'em down to "there's no way this is tight enough" and try to pull the bead out. Usually 1-2 turns down from flush is all it takes.

EDIT: When did Ben start using 10.9 screws?

I had that happen the bead of the tire will slide out as you tight the screw..I ended having to keep pushing in the bead of the tire tell I got them tight..they still push out alittle but I wasnt able to pull them out..they also held great in the comp..they take little more time to get on the m2k's..just try again you'll get them in

The method I use to tighten them is push down on the ring so it all settles in, then just bring the screw flush to that point and you're done. The tire will push back a little and it is more than tight enough.

I've had the same problem with Rock Lizzards and RC4WD beadlocks, but the mashers I have mounted on MSD's have never came close to coming out and I only run 4 screws per side! When I took them apart to add weight, the ring was still tight after I took the screws out.

Well tried taking them off and back on and limiting tightening them this time. No go, if the screws aren't cranked pretty much all the way down, you can pretty easily peel the tires right out. I guess the compound is too soft for beadlocks. The same beadlocks have worked fine woth both mashers and moabs mounted, so it must be the Axial tires. Bummer:-( I really wanted this combo on my Spyder J. Guess the moabs are going back on.

Looks to me like you didn't get the bead seated correctly and then you tightened each screw all the way in, instead of making them slightly snug and then going in a criss-cross pattern to tighten them down.

About how much gap are you leaving between the ring and wheel Jim?

I just made shure the tire bead was seated in the wheel all the way and snuged the ring up this beadlock will clamp down so tight it will cut the tire if you keep going

Other option would be to run a small bead of IC2000 on the bead, let it dry and then crank it down. I had to do that on a set I had. Worked great.

I seated the Axial tires to my RC4WD wheels. They seemed to have some issue if you didn't hold the tire right. First side was no problem, but the other side was a bit of a pain. They are not coming off though!!
