the U cut seems to work really well out here. Provides sidewall support while at the same time letting the inside lugs contour to the surface of the rock. |

"U" cut, is when looking at it from front to back, the sides are full heighth, and you cut the middle in a channel, so it looks like a "U" from the front. Works good, but not as good as Kreepy's, although you really want to make sure your wheels are sealed if running Kreepy's in the water.

| un cut foams
I don't cut my foams.. I like the sidwall support that gives.. I 've run star and channel cuts... and my front tires just fold over when trying to turn.

I run full foams also. Just not the moab foams. I prefer to run a slightly shorter foam, so the tire has about 1/4" of free flex before touching the foams. Seems to work for me...

Are you at least talking the 2.2 moabs??? Must be really heavy to fold over, or you took alot out of those foams. | |

I cut mine into the star pattern, and my Moabs tend to fold on sidehills. I need to try something different.

| I second the smaller foams. I run 2.2 offroad truck foams. Not sure what firmness. On my 1.9 scaler w/ moabs I run very stiff, thin foams. Then I cut the U shape in the middle of them. I've had success on mashers with just rounding the sidewalls. But on Moabs I try to U them. |

are you guys nawrrowing your foams before you star cut? if you are cut the extra ring in half and use it on the outside part of the sidewall this will give the sidewall support you are lacking |

The Kreepy Squishy foams are worth every penny. Go read the reviews on them. Sure they are in investment, but they don't break down like the cheap stuff that comes with most tires. If the tires wear out, just cut them off the rims, and re use the the foams in your next set. If you really can't addord to spend any money on foam, that kind of makes the discussion on running buggy or stadium truck foams a moot point, since yow would have to pay for those as well. If your only choice is modding the factory foam, I would agree with those who recommended cutting a shallow channel out of the middle of the foam, all the way around. I would not recommend a star pattern, because of the loss in sidewall stability. |

| ^that is my setup, I have always had good luck with softer tires so I decided that these would do good. I let you know how they do when I get my hummer running. |
