Until I touch the soft compound I'm not certain which ones mine are. (came in unlabeled bags @ LHS) But I'm pretty sure they are and I tried them out this week on some pretty harsh terrain. They weren't quite as good as the moabs but they certainly weren't the crap everyone here makes them out to be. This is what leads me to believe they are the new compound. I think if every other row of lugs were removed they would be excellent tires. What I like most about them is how realistic they look. They are what I see in my mind when I think about rock crawling tires.

the old ones are fun to use if you ask me.. very realistic ... a softer compound seems like it would crawl almost like a moab...if it were moab soft it might have a shot to keep up... you decide what you want the moabs are a great crawler and the lst's are good comparitively but also have the ability in the dirt, mud etc...

Just by touching them, the new compound seems no different than the old but that doesn't mean they won't hook up in the rocks.

I have run them on JYD. The compound is not any softer than the old version but they do seem to be a little stickier. I found that on rocks with lots of edges or jumbled rocks they werk good. They need edges to hold onto though. In Utah I found them to not hook up very well on flat, steep surfaces. They are not a bad tire but overall they will not hook up as well as a Proline tire with the M2 rubber. |
