Default Styrene?

What exactly is the stuff, and where do you get it? How is it to work with?

"Search" comes to mind, so does Google.

You can get it at most hobby/craft stores. Very easy to work with, surprisingly durable and not too heavy. Use the liquid styrene weld like Ambroid or Tenax.

EDIT: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Styrene

.... And why are you asking this in the 1.9 section?

Chino I like the way you just gave a complement answer sandwich. But seriously the styrene is the way to go very easy to form very
easy to glue and the joints are extremely durable..

Check out Styrene here. It's a type of plastic material.

Tenax welds the Styrene together for a super stong bond.

Diamond plate sheets.

I have been using Styrene for a long ol time in my scale building of 1/24th cars. I use Pentax glue to adhere it together. It really isn't a glue though as it chemically melts and bonds the pieces together. Once it melts, it is permanent to a point. Sure you can break it but it makes a real bond. As for scale parts for crawlers I say use it. You can get a multi-piece pack that has a ton of goodies in there to play with and they will be strong enough for a crawler that is lightly abused.

You know I tell ya I can never find it?! On a modelling forum another guy asked me about it and i told him the same. He had no access to Styrene anywhere so I just bought it for him for like $7.00 and mailed it to him. My LHS down the road is the only place I have ever seen it. I have one as well, but I have it all dispersed on the table so I couldn't even begin to know what was in the bag. I do know that it does not have diamond plate though. It basically has about 8 different thicknesses of plating and tons of beams and tubes and stuff.

Well, I did remember that the name of the package was "Odds and Ends" and can be found all over. Here is the Tower one.

For most of my body work I used .080 or .060 I picked my .080 styrene up from a local plastic supply house in 4 foot by 8 foot sheets for about 32 bucks.

What I do is make one or two pieces the shape of the radius i want 1st. This will give you the shape you want, then glue the piece that will be rounded/arched to these pieces. I usually make a cardboard template 1st.

Here is a wheel well
