I wear one of those paper face masks. Also gloves just cause aluminum splinters suck. Steel is worse I think, but it is still bad. Other than that what are you useing to cut it?

Dont lick your cutting surface.

I doubt that your arm will be moving fast enough to create a cloud of aluminum dust particles in the air.

Just cut it at a normal speed.

You'll be fine.

I cut aluminum with my dremmel and the shavings never even get near my face.

Cutting at slow speeds... isnt going to kill you

sanding with a high speed sander... for months on end, maybe do some kind of long term damage, but again nothing you will die from

welding Al has been known to cause lung cancer(but some believe that any kind of welding can just depends on how much you do it and how much of the gases you directly inhail)... but I have never read anywhere that it has killed

to much Al in ur diet isnt a good thing, but a little will not hurt you(from what I have been told(could be wrong)).

There is a lot of material online about this kind of "talk".

google.com is a handy tool and should get you started

Don't forget safety glasses. I got an aluminum shaving in my eye at work a few years ago and the doc had to dremel the rust out of my eye. Not too fun.

Exactly! This is more important than worrying about breathing in dust particles...

Good point I should have added the safety glasses as I use them too. Howerver using a hacksaw the only thing I wear is gloves. The edges get sharp and the metal gets very hot. Also the slinters still suck too so gloves solve that. I usually end up with splinters in my arms from steel alot. Anyone that has used a tungsten carbide dremel bit on hardened steel knows what I mean.
