Default metric drill bits? am i missing something?

So I have been using standard drill bits for years and haven't had much trouble. if I need a hole for a 3mm screw, an 1/8" bit works just fine. But more and more I am finding circumstances where a precise metric hole is needed. About a year ago I went on google to find a place to get some metric bits. Figured it would take me 5 minutes. I spent an hour and found nothing but standard! then a couple weeks ago I gave it another try with the same results. Where in the US and A am I supposed to find metric drill bits!? There must be something here I am not aware of. are they like banned from being sold here by our amazing government? because I wouldn't be surprised

http://www.mcmaster.com/

Or find a wire drill that is close in size. I THINK a 39 is a through hole for a 3mm screw and a 29 is for a 3mm tap.

This set has been wonderful to work with and the price is good. I'm able to drill holes w/ close tolerance and have all the bits to tap my own holes.
