| Stripping paint off tuber chassis
Looking for recommendations on the best way to strip rattle can paint off a tuber, but it has to be relatively non-toxic, non-stinky since I'll be doing it in my basement.

i had to do this recently with my Fun Buggy build, the rattle can and bake job didnt take well. I got a 5 gallon pail of Purple Power ( Castrol Super Clean is the same ) and let the frame sit inside it for 3 days. the paint curled and wiped right off. I washed it in the sink and after drying any paint that was left literally just flaked right off. the spots where the paint stuck good are few and being sandblasted to finish cleaning. currently have a ABS Clodbuster body thats been in the same bucket for the past week too. the paints doing the same with that and the plastic is still together with no problems. Good luck. | |

have it sandblasted. if you find the right place it will be $20 well spent keeping you from a dirty stinky job. p!nK |

You have to do this outside, but I have used a blowtorch and a wirebrush. First torch then while hot brush old paint off.

Thanks guys. Yeah, I was thinking sandblasting might be the best way to go still, money well spent probably. I do like to light things on fire though, so I might try the blowtorch idea first ;)!

The results? Results are in the Metal Fume build I'm working on. "thumbsup I've been using this cabinet for a while now. Works great - trust me. I use it to remove paint and clean up after brazing. Seems you can NEVER get all that brazing flux off the frame unless you blast it. At least I can't. |

Anyone that wants there chassis or anything glass beaded - i have a blast cabinet that i use to do these parts and the results are awesome - if you pay for return shipping i'd be happy to help out fellow r/c crawlers - if interested give me a call 570-698-9998 if its aluminum and its beaded you will want to use a primer made for aluminum before painting - or have it powder coated |
