custom bodies from scratch or vacuform..

I was wondering if any of you had ever built their own wooden plugs to form bodies? I wonder if the guys that make the bodies are interested in using a persons decent homemade one? I had always heard getting the right lexan is tough to do..It would sure be nice to get some new stuff off the beaten path built for some of the crawlers...

Personally I love the 61-66 ford pickups, but the odds of me ever getting one without scratch building it is zilch. I wish I had one that was scale sized for my mini rock crawler.. I am not anxious to start a project that intense, but it might be the only way to get there.
