Default solder station or iron for my LCC build

I am looking to buy, a new soldering iron or station. I just want to know what people are using, or what would be a good choice. Thanx.

I've had a Hakko 936 for a couple of years now and use it constantly. Great soldering station.

Spend some money if you plan to be doing this hobby for awhile. Like Silentcircus, I have had a Hakko 936 for years. I can't imagine going to anything different that a true soldering iron instead of the cheaper ones.

Buy a good station. It's worth it in the long run. Shouldn't this be in electronics?

Moved this thread to tools...

I just got a Team Checkpoint TC-950, it's just a rebadged Hakko 936 marketed directly to the RC market.

I love it.

Weller has a nice one too. The WLC-100. Looks to be under $45 most places. 40 watts solders everything I got just fine.

I've had mine for almost ten years now that I think about it... pretty good.

If you can afford a station, they are nice.

But the basic Weller 40watt pencil iron with some good iron plated tips is all you really need.

McMaster has the iron plated tips.

I use an Antex 660 TC, best station I've ever used, really easy to change tips and it's yellow.

May I ask, is this :
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tchlink:top:en
a version of the widely used 936? It is the only one I have yet found to work on 220v.
Thanks for the help guys.

I already sent an offer to the guy. As if the price wasn't low enough.
He also includes 10 extra tips. Even if they are junk, they are something.

EDIT
The guy counteroffered for .25$ less than the buy it now price LOL.
Only thing that bugs me is that searching through Hakkos' site I saw that the 936 is discontinued, but the tips and heating elements are the same for the successor 888. Whatever. I bought it nonetheless. The crappiest stations here sell for 90 euro and I got this for 53.
