Does any one know where I can get these tools

here ya go

not these exact ones but could I just buy the hex wrenches like at my lhs or Lowes, Home Depot?

I just don't see the point of spending $70 on a tool set. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What?

Yeah you can buy them most anywhere, be sure they sell metric sizes because that's what the hex wrenches are.

You can definitely get them in a hobby store......various brands as well.
I use a Dynamite set for about $20.
You may also find tools other places too, if you do some looking.
The sizes you need are 1.5 mm, 2.0 mm, and 2.5 mm.
If you bought your Axial new, it came with the cross wrench.

Where did you get your Dynamite set from?

i honestly prefer the hobby grade hex drivers, i find the tips are much harder than you run of the mill hardware store stuff and you have less of a chance of rounding stuff out. however just make sure you get a quality set of hex keys, or try and find some t-handles. as stated all you need a 1.5mm, 2.0mm and 2.5mm. also get a quality phillips screwdriver, a cheapo will just round screws.

So your saying stay away from the lowes, home depot and harware store like that. I've got a Kobalt mini rachet screwdriver that'll work right?

It will work ok for some stuff, the Dynamite Allen drivers are made from high quality steel and are very high quality tools. The best place that these come into play is all the set screws for the drive line and pinion. Any hardware store/Home depot/ Sears/ Lowes allen will not get these set screws tight enough with out striping out the hex. After they strip your done, if you can get it out with out messing up the part your lucky.

If you don't get a whole set at least get the 1.5mm you will need for the set screws in the driveline.

For the pliers...I highly suggest picking up some jeweler's side cutting pliers and needle nose pliers.
like these:

and these:

The ones I use are a lot smaller than pliers found in hardware stores and make great hobby tools. You can also find jeweler's pliers that have no serrated edges and small slots that would be perfect for shock shaft pliers.

Yes I have but the hobbytown usa down here closed down, and the only other good hobbyshop around here that has the stuff I'm interested in is the great escape but their prices are extremely exspensive. Just for Axial's rock racer it's $287 that's not including tax.

So really... you've looked at pricing for a RTR rig vs. looking for tools... right? Maybe try calling your LHS to see what they have for 1.2mm, 2mm and 2.5mm hex drivers. I bet they'll have a few different options.

Yeah but it's made out of wood so instead of the screw stripping it's going to be the tool stripping. Or is it stronger then I think it is?
