Default Home Made Shock Stand

Here is the shock stand I just made. Not including the beat-up Traxxas rims I am using as a base, the whole thing cost about $8.

To be honest though, the cost was almost $50, I had to buy a $40 step drill bit to make the wholes on the upper plate. I'm thinking about making two of the holes on the bottom plate large enough to allow the shock to have a rod-end installed.

I guess I am major league cheap. I just cut the tops off of 24 oz Mtn Dew bottles, drill a hole in the cap and use those as individual shock stands.

even better cut 4 Xs in the top of a shoe box and force the shocks through. holds them nice.

If you never plan to use your step bit again, yes, otherwise, this is one product I typically dont buy from HF, greenlee/klein/lennox only but I use them on a daily basis for work.

This bit is a Craftsman...

I have bought some things from HF, but when I order over the phone they completely piss me off. Once I have given them the information they need they transfer me to someone else to "finish the transaction", this is where they try to sell products and services that I don't want, they get down right pushy, and won't tell me if they have everything they need.

I'm even cheaper...I just use a block of hardpacked foam I have and shove the shock shafts in it...

and took a look at harbour freight..it seems like the American version of our Princess Auto...very cool

Looks like a good stand. Think I will make one similar. I will make mine out of Lexan since I get it for free.
