I went through 2 of those with bad regulators. I ended up getting the one without a hose and have had no issues. FYI - those are on clearance at my local Home Depot for $40 |

My birthday is coming up so I just went pick up one of these torches, a bottle of MAPP, a tube bender and some welding magnets as my birthday gifts from the wife! Isn't she wonderful. BTW...the torches are on sale for 38 bucks, usually 60 at Home Depot!! |

Already talked with a few autoparts stores about getting some brakeline, now just have to figure out the flux & solder issue, like where and what to get. Thanks everyone for all the input on this purchase. |

Everyone on the sie suggests "saftey silv rod and flux" but just go to your local welding shop and say your brazing steel with mapp, the will point you in the right direction |

If you want to do any good brazing I would pick up a Smith Mini Torch. I've used the stuff from Lowes and Home Depot and nearly gave up on brazing because I was so frustrated with it. Then I got the Smith Mini Torch and I now love brazing. It gets so much hotter and has such a fine tip flame that you can really keep the solder and heat in the right place. It also helps to build faster. I can heat up and braze joint within about 20 seconds where it use to take me much longer. You will also use much less solder which in time will help to make up the difference in price. They are expensive but if you really want to braze it's the only way to go. Everything Kaetwo does is done with a Smith Mini torch. PinchFlat used it and now he refuses to do any more brazing until he can get one too. Here's Kaetwo's thoughts on it. You'll have to register on UTRCRC to see it but it's worth reading. http://utrcrc.freeforums.org/k2-s-bl...zing-t369.html |
