Default aluminum

I want to make some things out of aluminum and i wanted to know if it was possible to solder or braze aluminum? as i do not know how to weld aluminum. tanks in advance for your help.

Easiest way for you might be for you to braze it... Look for a product called Duraweld, or Durafix.. Have a harbor Freight store local? they have the same stuff, it comes 8pieces for $10 or $12. It even melts with a propane or MAPP torch

sweet thanks for the help guys, I will get on harbor freights website and do a search for it. also is brazing the aluminum as strong and welding it would be?

Brazing provides an excellent bond without making the joint brittle. Welding would be stronger,but you can get a brittle joint,that can crack.

you can weld AL with a torch. just as strong as a tig weld (most common method). I tig weld AL all day and would struggle with torch welding so I think brazing would be your best bet too.

that durafix rod is pretty sweet looking. so I will have to get some of it. I could do so many things with aluminum and that durafix stuff.

let us know where you get it at and update on what you are brazing and how it goes. I am kinda there now about having an aluminum chassis.

Just be cautious of the fumes. They can be very powerful and toxic
