Default delrin diameter

Hello! I have an axial with aluminum links. I would like to find hollow delrin. I plan to split it lengthwise and glue it to the bottom of the links. Does delrin rod come in hollow sticks? If so, what would be the diameter i need for the above project?

Why not drill and tap the delrin and make links out of it

I've seen delrin links bend when bound up. I like the all-thread idea. Thank you for your help!

1/4" delrin tube has an I.D. that is TINY. You will not get even 3mm all-thread thru there. ALSO, 1/4" delrin tube with 3mm threaded rod thru it is NOT strong enough to greatly reduce flexing. The way to get the 1/4" delrin tube to act as a good sleeve over a threaded rod is to use 4mm threaded rod. (I make/sell links built in this design) The trick is getting the 4mm hardened steel threaded rod thru the length of 1/4" delrin tube. Once built in this fashion they are damn strong, and super slick, and no real flex to speak of.

Why not just take 1/4" stainless steel round bar and tap the ends for 4mm set screws and run Revo ends? That's what I did for my rock racer. Bombproof, won't flex and will slide over rocks forever with no snags.

Your welcome... however if you want last forever go with reflections idea or what I do... 8/32 stainless all thread(galvinized works too) and 1/4" stainless TUBE with revo or jato rod ends... slide smooth as butter and I dare ya to break one

I guess I should add... use the all thread and rod ends to make the link lenght you need... make sure to fill the rod end with the all thread... if you don't it will be a weak spot(not very weak but still) once you have your final lenght measure between the rod ends and cut a length of the SS tube to fit void between them... remove one rod end and slip the tube over the all thread and and replace the rod end... BULLET PROOF.

you can probably get it cheaper from a local source.

All thread can be found at lowes, homedepot ect.... bout 3 bucks for 36"

It's not expensive, can't remember off the top of my head though. I ordered 20 feet of it from McMaster-Carr a while back to make links with. Ordered it and 2 days later,it was here.

Edit.....

Just went and checked,for a 6' stick of 1/4" 304 stainless at McMaster-Carr is just under $8

You could get the 304 that's been precision ground with a tight tolerance though for $35 ....

Just a note,if you wanna tap stainless,do yourself a favor and buy a good tap. Little bitty chinese taps don't like stainless very well.
