I would try applying some locktight [blue] to the male threads then assemble. if that doesnt do it,and you need it to last just a little longer. try ca glue. this should by you some time. |

plastic and loctite are generaly a Bad combo... loctite EATS most plastic. A little CA may work but usually wont hold very long, can you use the next larger screw size? or a longer screw? if not, there is not much else you can do but replace it.

If you've got some plastic laying around, you might be able to shave a little sliver off, stick it in the stripped hole, hold it so it doesn't drop in, and thread the end back on, pinching the sliver between the part and the threads.

As said already-- either a larger diameter or longer screw will do it for sure.

Something I have thought of doing, but never had the occasion to try it, is to heat a bolt, slide it into the stripped plastic and let the threads melt into the plastic. Anyone try this?

Drill it out and put a heli-coil in it...best way and it will last forever!

Is the part expensive, seems like alot of work and worry if it is a cheap part to replace. I have heard of guys going to plastic welder places and getting it filled then drill and retap but unsure how cost efficient this would be??

Drill out a little, clean it out, mix up and insert jb weld into the hole. Spit on the bolt to get it good and slimy and thread it into hole. Wherever you don't want jb weld to stick, make sure where is spit or water on it, jb weld won't bond to water. This is really a emergency option, you should replace the part!

do what i do... put a little dab of glue (CA or cement plastic) in the thread or use a longer/wider screw |
