Default Hakko 936 - Which One? (936-11, -12, -13)

I'm in the market for a soldering station and want to pick-up a Hakko 936 based on the all of the positive feedback I've seen for it.

The one thing I can't figure out - which 936 is the best for general RC work? Hakko's 936 product page lists three models:

936-11 (small iron)
936-12 (medium iron)
936-13 (large iron)

Which should I get?

On a related note, it looks like the flame skins do not have any tick marks or numeric values for the heat knob's setting, but just a yellow to red gradient graphic - can anyone confirm?

Thanks,
- Chris

Any Hakko model is good. Just make sure it has a on\off switch and a temp control. I set mine to 400 and its perfect .

For those of you that have a "skinned" 936, do the skins have tick marks for the temp level? If not, how are you setting the dial to a specific temp, other than "medium-orange"?

all the way down to rest, 12:00 to 1:00 for surface mount rework, 2:00 to 3:00 for typical work, full up for battery and rc connector work. Get extra tips also, 1 smaller than you think you will ever need (you will need it and typically you will need it at 3 in the morning on a Sunday) and 1 big fat chisel tip.

I have the -12 with the 907 iron. Get this little widget too. its worth the 10 bucks.

ANymore feedback on these? My trusty old Ungar is in need of a tip and they don't make it anymore!!!! Aaargh!

EDIT: My current iron is a 45 watt and the element before that (same iron has replacable elements and seperate tips) was a 50 watt and it worked even better....so looking for quality iron that gets hot enough.

Looks like Hakko 936 (Team Checkpoint TC-950) or something else is the current options, but 45 watts = about 900' F. I prefer to work hot and fast. Looks like the Hakko 455 Stick iron is for me since the 936 only goes up to 892'f, but the 455 goes to 1110'F with ceramic heater on both.
