| homemade crawler course questions
Im in the begining stages of make a crawl course and wanted to ask some questions about the materials and structuring. 1. It there a lot of support for the chicken wire underneath or just the parts used to help frame the shape of it? 2. What is better to use, a concrete mix, a mortor mix or someother material for the top layer? 3. I want to throw in some paver stones, broken up cinder blocks and some flat stone, should I put the stones in and then put the concrete mix around them, or pour the mix and place the stones while it is still soft? Any tips would be very helpfull and apreciated. Thank you in advance Sorry any spelling mistakes |

It gives me ideas but I really wanted to know how much bracing would be needed and if pouring around rocks or placing them as the cement hardens would be better. I've been looking at the thread of the full wall crawl spot on here, thats kinda what made me want to do this |

The size of your project would dictate a lot of things. This is not a great picture. But it is done with a set of stairs in the corner of a room ( basically) The rocks are set on the steps and then some spray foam is added in-between some of the rocks to hold them in place. Have you tried posting this question on the other thread you mentioned? If they are doing something that works for ya, They are who to ask.

Would it be better to put some wagon wheels on one side and move it like a wheelbarrow or put castors on the bottom, its gonna be outside in the dirt so I'm leaning toward wagon wheels? Im gonna start building next weekend if it doesn't rain. Last edited by Tortuga275; 02-16-2010 at 09:30 AM.

I just got a Losi Micro and I'm looking to build a crawler course. The idea is to build a 5'x5' set that can be separated into four 2.5'x2.5' sections. Materials will need to be lightweight, but as realistic as possible. I'm more concerned with modelling the terrain and features first, with proper coloring later. Some features I plan on including: two-log ladder climb, rope/log suspension bridge, rock overpass with the tunnel leading to an alternate back way up the mountain, gravel slide, mud ruts, cliffs, and a log jam trail. I have twigs for the bridge, just need to come them to size. Rope will be hemp string. What I need is details information (pics if possible) on making the bridge. I'd also love to find an easy and free 3D terrain modelling program so I can plan it all out and see what it's gonna look like before I build. Maybe a program that lets me draw a top view first. Thanks for the help, guys! I'm going to look into the mod tips for lowering the CoG after work tonight. |
