Default cleaning machines

How do you guys clean up your machines from having light surface rust on them. My drill press is out in the shop and has gotten some surface rust on it. Any ideas on the best ways to get it off without screwing up other crap? Didn't just want to use a SOS pad or something and scrape of the coating of soemthing else and it tend to rust more then

Baking Soda and this little gun. You can get right up to where the paint line is. Then just blow the drill press of with the air compressor. It does make a mess though. I do it out side in the grass then you don't have to clean it up of the ground.

I have the same problem. Moving the machine outside is not an option though.

Depends on how bad the corrosion is. I use ultra-fine steel wool with WD-40.

i'd say some Scotchbrite and WD, depending on where on the machine...

Scothh-brite pads are great for clean up.
LPS is the best rust preventive I've seen.
These are magic they really work. I use them in the shop and greenhouse.

Madcrate, how big of an area do those strips provide protection for? Looks like something I could use in my shop.

I use a single strip in a 8X12 greenhouse. I use two in my shop, plus one in my rollaway.

Thanks for the ideas guys... The rust really ain't bad. It is just from being out in the shop and getting condensation on it. Thought I would try and clean it off before it gets too bad

I agree with the Scotchbrite and WD-40. That is what we use on the machine tables here at work.

Rust?? What is that? Don't you need moisture before you can have rust.

8% Humidity. Gotta love the desert.
