Default Delrin thickness ?

I want to make my own body less chassis for my moa losi out of delrin. I was wondering what thickness to use to get proper strength. I was thinking of using 3/16", but thought i'd ask before i order.

Also, is 1/4" think enough for lower links, or should i go bigger? Thanks

most chassis' are 1/8" delrin and for lower links are you talking about solid rod or sheet delrin? For round rod delrin I use 3/8", some people use 5/16"; if you're using flat sheet delrin I don't know but would think 1/4" is a little thin.

For the links? I used 3/8 (probably overkill) I think 5/16 would be just as well off. As far as the chassis 1/8 or 1/4 should suffice.

Default A bit difficult to find

I had been looking for the thin delrin sheet listed here, and was having no luck. After searching and thinking I found it, most places say they carry it, I would call, and they would say 'it is on back order' or some other lame excuse. I finally found Industrial Plastic, and they had it in both Black and White. And they had it in big sheets - like plywood size. You need to call, it is only on their site as small pieces. Yeah.
Thought you would want to know.

i used 1/8 for my chassis and its been running strong for a year. as for the links my BULLY has 5/16 and my SCX10 has 1/4. try McMASTER CARR for the sheets and rods , nice variety to choose from

I wouldn't use 1/4" for your links. I use 5/16" on my 1.9 SCX scaler and have bent them under a few times from the torque of the tires. A 2.2 Comp with front and rear dig is asking for trouble with anything less than 5/16...in fact I'd go bigger.

I just made a bodyless upper chassis for my GC3A last night. Made it out of a $2 cuttingboard from Walmart. Used a cutoff wheel to get a general shape to it, then tried to get the details with an air sander. A few pictures:

Hoped to look like:

Outcome:

Thickness:

Hope this helps!

For a 2.2, I would use 1/8th" for the upper and 5/16th"+ for links.
I use 1/8th" Lexan (the brand name, not just "clear polycarbonite sheet") for uppers.
For both Lexan & Delrin, keep the outer edge to cutout/window dimension 1/4"+. Also try to get "posts" from outer edge to screw mounting lined up so you have better force transfer when you're upside down.

Using Flat Delrin sheets for lower links (like the T1E ones below) works a lot better then using round stock. The 5/16 round stock will flex a little bit more then I personal liked even more so if you bend it. The 5/16 Round will work for uppers though. As stated above the ones below are made by T1e and are relatively cheap. If you are going to make them I suggest doing so with a scroll or band saw as it is a pain to do with a dremel. Trust me I know from experience

3mm/ 1/8" Acetal POM H (delrin(R) for the chassis sides should work fine.

Make sure its the H (High Density) sheets u get.
