I've been using a Black & Decker corded rotary tool for a while now and it seems to be pretty decent. It has adjustable speeds, which I like. I don't use it very often, but for the amount I do use it, it has done well. I picked it up about a year and a half ago and it costed between $20-30. However, if you're looking for a workhorse dremel and plan on using it a lot, you might wanna get something a little nicer.

dremel 400 series, only way to go. i bought a "cheapie" set at costco for 30, but it was "wobbley" from day one, couldnt drill with it....trust me, save up a bit more money to buy the better tool, it will last you forever....

Agreed I have 2 or 3 cheaper versions in the shed and when it comes to using the Dremel, its night and day difference.Pick up the Dremel mini catalogue next trip to the hardware and you'll see its an all in one tool when it comes to attachments and accessories you can get for it.If your limited to work space and need to do a few different types of work like drill press etc and have no room for one,the dremel has all the attachments available that will replace several of the bigger pieces. They even have a quick release locking system for things like cut off wheels etc.Checkout the web site and you will be amazed at what they can do http://www.dremel.com/en-us/Attachme...tachments.aspx
