Default Lock your drive shafts for free

I went out this weekend with my fairly new Gmade R1 and quickly learned its weak link....the drive shafts. They popped twiced and it was not fun fixing them in the TX heat, ask my buddy who fixed one of them for me. So I came home and ordered a upgrade but while I wait for the mail man, I decided to try a home remedy for the stock ones. I used safety wire (you can find it at any motorcycle dealer) to lock the shafts. Here is how it looks:

Safety wire and pliers(any pliers will do):

Wrapped around the u joint twice:

Twisted tight and cut the wire then made some clearence to allow u joint movement:

All done:

Mounted:

They work fine, are they bullet proof? Probably not but they sure will take some more punishment than stock and they will make a great emergency spare set for somebody out there in my same situation!

Nice idea, but you need to learn how to safety wire.

What's wrong with his safety wire. The twists are at the right angle and look to be about the right twists per inch. Also looks about at tight as it can get on there. Only issue is no pig tail so the sharp end is exposed, but space is and issue there. I have been safety wiring military aircraft for almost 14 years and have seen much worse than that.

Its not a "beauty safety wire pageant", its supposed to be functional!

Not pretty but functional. Wonder how long it will last when it's scraped across a rock a few times? I would make a quick repair to get you back on course

I was also in the Air Force for 8 years, I did a lot of safety wiring almost daily EC-130 crew chief. The wire is just wrapped over around the other wire pic 3. I have seen some really bad ones too. Where they just flat out missed what they were suppose to be wiring lol.
