Default Cheap Rotary Tool?

I have been avoiding this long enough...I need a Dremel type tool and wondering if Black & Decker's 3 speed Rotary Tool would work with Dremel cut off wheels...not sure how it attaches.

http://www.walmart.com/ip/Black-Deck...ndingMethod=rr

Or go with the cheapest Dremel 300 sereies I found for $48 not including shipping?

http://www.walmart.com/ip/Dremel-Var...i-Pro/10099162

I will probably not be using it to cut anything more than plastic, rubber, and rarely aluminum links.

The cheapy dremel version works great. My grandparents bought me one 3 or 4 years back and I still use it. Mine isn't as cool as that one though... it only has 2 speeds.

If you check the specs on the B&D one and check the specs on the Dremel. The B&D blows the doors off the dremel. Thats the one I ended up buying. It is a HOG, You can't bog it down. It'll fly out of your hand before you bog it up. B&D FTW!!!

Had both. The Black & decker worked fine but I like the dremel better myself. IMHO It was worth the extra 20 bucks. The B&D would be fine if money is a concern though.

I picked one of the harbor Freight Tools up after my dremel went out

Save your money, I can stop it with my finger. It will barley clean up a lexan body

i have the HF (paid about $15 a year or so ago). its decent for cutting brass and soft aluminum and it can get rust off of steel (with so pressure)but its best use is using a small sanding drum to shorten my finger nails. better than tin snips

i wouldnt get the black and decker one form wally world, i got one because it was cheap and that is exactly what it is CHEAP. i was trying to cut some thin aluminum and the thing went up in somle and sparking in my hands. i went back with the dremel 300 and havent had a problem and i have cut logging chain with it. the only reason i got the black and decker was because i just moved and didnt want to pull all my crap out to find it but instead of wasteing my money on the cheapy tool i should have went with my normal dremel tool like what i have always used.

The harbor freight 10 buck one is junk but you can get the better one for under 20 with the ajustable speed and it works pretty damn good.

Steer clear of Harbor, I use a B&D dremel and it has held up great over the years of abuse.

I bought a "princess auto" brand one a few years ago to leave in my RC box and it gets ton's of action and is still going strong! Grab the one from Walmart they have a good return policy if there is any issues.

holy sh*t batman! 16k rpms... I would hate to see the aftermath of a cutoff wheel that snapped in that thing... buy a dremel, adjustable rpms is very nice...I paid around $70 for mine and it came with the snake attachment.. works like a dream!

that 10 dollar one is junk wont cut thru butter lol. they do have one around 20 or 25 that is decent. But as said above the multi speed dremel for about 70 is A+.. I have alot of hours on mine may be ugly but runs like new

i have the 4 speed harbor freight one, it works, it does bog down quite abit when cutting thick stuff. I have never really used a real dremel more that a handful of times so i can't compare them. But the new high dollar dremels look sweet, last time i looked it was the dremmel 4000, but it was 100 bucks compared to the one i got for almost free, 2.50 at a yard sell is where i bought my harbor freight dremel, so i can't complain too much
