Anyone here work with ti tubing ?

I want a ti tuber,

Ya that would be cool, Added bonus to the strength and weight.

still looking for someone who can do it though.

Titanium must be welded in an oxygen free atmosphere.

Titanium is very reactive and will instantly contaminate with various atmospheric gases. It must be welded under vacuum or in a enclosed area with an inert shielding gas.

I could build you a Titanium Tuber, We work with Ti at my work all the time. I have welded it countless times, but it's not going to be cheap..

Just for shits and giggles how much ? Your probably right, its probably not worth it, but i'd be interested to know.

I'm sure there are a few guys that would drop some $$$ on one.

It would be interesting none the less..


I got bored once and covered my TCS Gopher with Ti panels, couldn't generate the speed to make it spark though..

I was talking with my Dad about this who was a boiler maker for a little over 20 years and he mentioned that they would weld it by shooting gas at it to displace the oxygen through the beginning of the weld and until it had cooled substantially.

Not sure if that's 100% accurate ... but still cool to think about.
