Its actually "delrin", which is a brand name like lexan. The generic name is acetyl plastic. A lot of moderate sized cities have a plastic shop that stocks plastic and cuts it. Try sign shops and such. If you're luck they sell scraps by weight, cheaply.

I found 12x14x3/8 sheets of the stuff on eBay last year for cheap. They had holes in them that I work around when I make something but I got 10 sheets for $40 or $60 shipped.

I buy my Acetal (delrin) from:
-Mcmaster-Carr
-MSC
-TAP Plastics
-Fastenal
Im sure there are others that i have used that i cant think of off hand... but i use these the most.

There are better plastics for skids then Delrin IMO. I personally like cast acrylic which is why we use it for the ZNO-RC parts. Just as easy to machine and you can form it with heat. It is a little brittle but slides great over rocks.

i found a cutting board that was 3/8" thick at walmart for 4 bucks and works great .......bob

We have a hardware store, Hardware Sales, in Bellingham that buys scraps of Delrin, teflon and UHMW by the pallet box. They sell it by the pound. It's dirt cheap. They get round stock and plate, white or black


Here's a wedge that I cut, drilled and chamfered for my battery mount on my servo tray.
