Default What types of machines are you using to fab

All my custom one off work goes on a Smithy 3in1 XL model. Does the job pretty well. I keep it well tuned and lubed so it's really precise.

Next on my list is a small band saw or scroll saw.

1955 Bridgeport and a 13X40 Southbend. I have been stuck doing outside jobs here lately so I have not built any thing for the 2 supers or 2.2 I am working on. I had a Smithy 1220 limited and it was good but once I got my hands on these 2 machines I will never go back. I do miss the size, 500 lb smithy vs almost 3000lbs between the other two.

I'm got pretty meager tools that I use. Besides the standard hand tools, I use a small bench grinder, belt sander, vert/horiz band saw, drill press, and a Lincoln MIG welder. I really, REALLY want a mill or mill/lathe combo. Just no budget or room for it right now.

Here's what I currently use:

I hadn't heard about the Smithy tool 'til now. It might be time to do some research!

You're liking that Thremal Arc huh?

I saw the thread a while ago, but it was recent at the time. How's she holding up?

good, trying to find other work for it as well. It been working fine. I wanted to see if it would hit the duty sycle, so turned it all the way up and did some stick welding with it. well it didn't burn it self up, so might be a well build welder. didn't even blink an eye. welded for like six hours on it with it turned up all the way, so I'm thinking it a well made set up. would more than liklly get another if I had to

I've had a Sherline mill and lathe for a little over a year, and have been cutting out stock with a handsaw but I think I'll try to get my hand on a small bandsaw.

I don't want the bandsaw permanently setup as I have a 3-year old and he has playgroups in the house sometimes, so I need something that I can put away after use. Any suggestions?
