| Dremel high speed cutter#199 review
So I'll begin with this: I'm actually in the process of cutting a hilux body just for the sake of it and because I plan on getting another soon lol so on to the topic, it is called the High speed cutter but it's in the carving color coded section if you want to buy one, what got my attention the first time was the pic in the background of the cutters packaging, upon further inspection I found it was a pic of an rc car and they were using this tool to cut out a window. First impression, it looks like a nasty lookin bugger, so if you have not so steady of a hand, stick with the cut off wheel because it's got teeth lol but it's only 3/8" in diameter so its also really small, and with that in mind, I do believe that faster the speed the better the cuts and slower the more your going to get cracks or chips on the cutting. Now to my hilux, I wanted to try and cut the doors out because since this is a tinker body, I wasn't worried if I messed up, (which I found out, I don't have to worry at all) so the cuts began, first with back of the door, where the handle is, it cuts smooooooth! The thickness of the cutter is almost the exact same width as the lines so I had no worries about messin it up plus I already had a groove to follow, well it went quite quick with minimum amount of melting compared to a cut off wheel, the I went for a more challenging spot, the the window frame area..... I'll let the pics show the awesomeness if how it was, comparing this to the cut off wheel is like comparing a .50 sniper rifle and a .22 ........... Lol so to sum up short, it can cut just like a cut off wheel but with less melting, cleaner cuts and a lot faster, so if you have the hands for it, this is the cutter of choice, hope this helps for a review |

i use the same cutter to stip/groove my comp tires....i see you needed just that door and cleaned up the door lines, but that bit is too wide to just cut the line out....i found some denim thread i'm using to cut my doors on my clod right through the body/door line....miminal trimming after wards and just a 1/2" dremel sanding drum to clean up the line .........bob .... |

Were you using the ripping attachment or just the bit by itself?

yeah i know it cuts clean, but you would never just get the door cut out and still use the door and body is what i was saying.... that's just a bit, no attachment to it like the saw blade that comes with the housing.........bob .... |
